Kualotl (Eclipse)

Project Overview
Deep beneath the Roots of the World Tree, the Rabbit Moon Goddess fights through the hordes of creatures corrupted by the serpent Quetzalcóatl. Hoping to rescue the World Tree and her partner, the Jaguar Sun God, the Goddess ventures far from her home atop the World Tree, discovering secrets while delving deeper and deeper into its roots...
Kualotl is a Third-Person Dungeon Crawler Hack-and-Slash set in the Roots of the Meso-American World Tree. Kualotl was initially developed in under 48 hours for the 2023 Global Game Jam using Unreal Engine 5. Its design was influenced by the event themes of "Roots" as well as the "Prehispanic," "Year of the Rabbit," and "Creature Feature" diversifiers.
Kualotl is now moving forward into active development with updates to follow.
My Contributions (Project in Progress)
Served as the main designer for all combat systems.
Implemented both Sickle and Spear weapons and the coinciding combo system.
Created the Magic System with spells tied to each phase of the moon.
Designed the unique "Moon Beam" mechanic as both visual guide and combat aide. By running through Moon Beams, players receive buffs and bonus according the phase of the moon and could quickly swap between weapons. Moon Beams also served as beacons encouraging players to be in constant motion - thus emphasizing the lithe Rabbit aesthetic.
Created a robust camera system that allows for smooth transitions between third person and fixed camera beauty shots.
Populated all levels with enemies, Moon Beams, and checkpoints.
Integrated the HUD.
Managed source control over Perforce.

Trailer not final.
