Beneath the Badlands

Project Overview
Beneath the Badlands is a First-person Roguelike set in the Western Steampunk landscape that is the Badlands. 
Players take on the role of Aster, a bounty hunter tasked with uncovering and destroying the source of a desolate town's downfall. Using the steam-powered machinery available to them, Aster will upgrade themselves and sacrifice their humanity for the abilities needed to survive this trial. The battle between machine and nature drives the narrative - telling a tale of things taken too far.
With Core Pillars of Planning/Resource Management, Spatial Awareness, Reflexes, and Creativity Beneath the Badlands will give players the opportunity to traverse through procedurally generated levels whilst fighting a variety of compelling enemies. Players will spend time between combat encounters collecting new weapons and upgrades and making meaningful decisions according to their personal playstyles.
Beneath the Badlands was a collaborative project with a team of over 40 members. Inter-Team Communication was consistent and critical to the development of Beneath the Badlands. Members of art teams like concept, character, and environment art remained in constant discussion with members of Design, Programming, and even Sound teams.
Beneath the Badlands wrapped in June of 2023 with a smaller team continuing development with plans for release sometime the same year.
